On March 24, 2010 popular music singer Johnny Maestro succumbed to cancer at age 70 at his Florida home. First as lead singer of the Crests and later of the Brooklyn Bridge, Johnny Maestro has been recognized as one of the finest lead voices ever in the vocal group pop music genre. This week Joel Najman’s My Place program celebrates the life of Johnny Maestro with an hour of his biggest hits and most memorable recordings over a career that extended well over fifty years.
NOTE: Due to the restrictions of music copyright laws that govern online streaming, VPR is unable to stream the Johnny Maestro tribute program online. Instead we hope online listeners this evening will enjoy an encore presentation of Joel’s popular show, "Original Versions of Famous Hits".
