The University of Vermont and its maintenance workers have reached an impasse in contract talks. Both
sides say the biggest difference between them is how much salaries would go up
in a new three-year contract.

Congressman Peter Welch says he wants to know why the Bush
administration is exempting overseas contractors from the fraud and fiscal
abuse laws of the United States.

independent contracts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
