The state of Vermont must pay a
medical data mining company $2.4 million in legal fees in a case in
which the firm successfully argued that a state law trying to restrict its
activities violated the First Amendment.
State officials say they’ve identified the three people who, due to a
computer glitch, accessed the personal tax data of more than 1,300
people and businesses.
The 2nd U.S.
Circuit Court of Appeals is allowing the implementation of a Vermont law that would restrict the work of companies that
collect information about the drugs doctors prescribe.
