Their case caps a legal journey that began eight years ago with a horrible medical injury. The outcome could determine the rights of people to sue companies over dangerous products.

The woman is Diana Levine, a musician who lost her right arm because of a medical disaster;  A yearlong battle over the future of Intervale Compost in Burlington is nearing conclusion, with the Chittenden Solid Waste District paying $170,000 to take the operation over on Monday.
