Vermont
lawmakers are continuing their efforts to crack down on distracted
driving, with bills that would boost the penalties for texting while
driving and ban all hand-held electronic devices when driving through
road construction zones.
The Caledonia County Sheriff’s Department and
St. Johnsbury Police Department are going to teach young Vermont drivers about the dangers of distracted driving.
The
Vermont House and Senate have reached an agreement on a new ‘distracted
driver’
bill. The
compromise bans texting by all drivers, and imposes new restrictions on
junior
operators.
