IBM is warning
officials in Essex that more jobs could be lost if the town approves a
local option sales tax at its town meeting. The company recently laid off
workers at its Vermont plant
Middlebury
is the latest town to adopt a local option tax. Yesterday, the town voted 305
to 102 in favor of a one percent tax on rooms, meals, alcohol and sales.
