Killington residents will vote tomorrow on
whether or not to create a 1% local option tax on rooms and meals, sales and
alcohol.
Proponents
believe it will raise funds vital for economic development. But critics – including Killington ski resort – say the
tax is misguided.
In the 1990s, ski resorts and state environmental officials often clashed over
the impact of snowmaking on high elevation streams.
Those
issues have mostly been resolved. But now the Stowe Mountain Resort wants a
delay in meeting some state requirements.
