Climate change is a global issue, but many organizations are working to tackle the problem by engaging people at the local level. Wednesday on Vermont Edition, we talk with two organizers of 350 Vermont, a group that’s initiating local conversations about how climate change is affecting Vermont, and what citizens are willing to do about it.

We talk with David Stember and Kathryn Blume about a global awareness day planned for May 5 with 350.org, and about how Vermonters are looking at climate change effects and solutions here in the state.

Also in the program, farmers are turning to the online crowdfunding site Kickstarter to raise capital for specific projects. VPR’s Nina Keck reports on a few Vermont success stories.

And when farmers work long days in fields, they sometimes relax with a drink of traditional sap beer. VPR’s Steve Zind explains how it’s made from the last murky remnants of maple sap.
