Vermont is among the whitest states in the country, but a new book brings to life the stories of black Vermonters whose families stretch back through generations of Vermont history. We hear the stories of eight black families who prospered in Hinesburg in the nineteenth century. The history is told in the new book by Elise Guyette, "Discovering Black Vermont: African-American Farmers in Hinesburgh, 1790-1890." Listen
Also in the program, a newly developed program in Vermont will enable students K-12 to take courses online. The half-million dollar grant is designed to let students in small schools have access to specialized classes like calculus, flash animation and Chinese language. Listen
