Sixty years ago U.S. Senator George Aiken uttered the words
"Northeast Kingdom"
and since that time, the area made up of Caledonia, Essex,
and Orleans counties has been known
by its mythological name.  The Northeast
Kingdom has always conjured images
of beauty, unspoiled forests and a calmer way of life. We talk about what makes the Northeast
Kingdom so special with Derby Representative Scott
Wheeler, who will
announce a legislative resolution to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the
region’s name.  And, we also hear from
longtime Kingdom residents, including Norm Lewis (a.k.a. Rep. Danny Gore).(Listen)

Also New Hampshire
author Jack McEnany’s new book looks at a year in the life of loggers.  It’s called Brush Cat: On Trees, the Wood Economy, and the
Most Dangerous Job in
America.  We talk with McEnany
about the loggers he met, and why he wants to tell their stories.(Listen)
