Last year, there were 55 traffic fatalities in Vermont.
It’s early September and we’ve already surpassed that number this year. Highway
safety officials say that the overall number of crashes are similar to what
they were last year at this time, but the severity of the accidents have been
much worse.

Vermont State Police Lieutenant John Flannigan and Agency of
Transportation Highway Safety and Design Engineer Kevin Marshia look at the
leading causes of these fatalities and what can be done to reduce them.

Also on the program, UVM Political Science Professor
Garrison Nelson provides analysis on Vermont’s
gubernatorial race.

And we listen back to the voices in the news this week.
