Employee ownership is a business alternative that’s been used to keep companies and jobs in local communities and give workers a deeper stake in their work place. Vermont has been fertile ground for this innovative business model. Host Jane Lindholm talks with Don Jamison of the Vermont Employee Ownership Center, and with John Abrams, author of the book Companies we Keep, about employee-owned companies and how they are approaching the economic downturn.(Listen)

Marlboro filmmakers Lisa Merton and Alan Dater spent more than five years working on this documentary about a Kenyan woman who founded her country’s Greenbelt movement by encouraging women to plant trees.
