Fictional Vermont

From Chris Bohjalian to Howard Frank Mosher to Archer
Mayor, Vermont is
teeming with authors who set their books within the state’s borders.  And those names hardly even scrape the
surface, there are also many non-Vermonters who choose the Green
Mountain state as a literary
backdrop.  We look at the overarching themes and impressions of the state that we can
glean through its fiction.  Our guest is South Newfane resident, Ann McKinstry Micou, who has written two guidebooks to the state’s fiction.  And, we also hear from one of Vermont’s
best known novelists, Chris Bohjalian.

Also, years ago, the state installed striking outdoor
sculptures by an international group of artists at interstate rest areas.
Today, those pieces are deteriorating – and some of the rest areas where they
are installed have been closed.  We’ll talk with the Vermont State
Curator, David Schutz, about what’s being done to save this collection of
public art.

And, we dig into our mailbag and read from some of your
emails.
