Vermont farmers endured flooding in May, and recovered during a dry summer that seemed almost too dry as by mid-August. But as crops reached their peak, Vermont farmers were hit by severe weather again from Tropical Storm Irene. We talk talk with Vermont Agriculture Secretary Chuck Ross about crop loss, fields that are heavy with silt and the financial resources farms will need to recover from a second round of flooding.

Also in the program, we begin a series of reports on how our lives have changed in the 10 years since September 11, 2001. VPR’s Charlotte Albright looks at how traveling across the Canadian border has changed in the past decade.
