The Republican Presidential
candidates are debating at Dartmouth College on Tuesday, in a debate that focuses on the economy.
We talk with two close observers of the presidential race, Linda Fowler, a Professor of Government at
Dartmouth College and an
expert on presidential primaries, and Matt Dickinson, a professor of political
science at Middlebury College, who
specializes in the presidency. They discuss the issues and politics of the Republican primary.

Also on the program, in
1880, Rutland was Vermont’s largest and most prosperous city. But a
controversial political move in 1886 forever changed that. VPR’s Nina Keck reports that a new novel delves into the events and the man behind
the division of Rutland.
