The August flooding of Tropical Storm Irene left the state grappling with how to replace the massive state office complex in Waterbury – home to 1500 workers and the Vermont State Hospital.
Governor Peter Shumlin discusses his announcement that all four options presented by a consultant to replace the Waterbury office complex are too expensive. Shumlin instead favors a scaled-back approach that returns the 700 Agency of Human Services employees to the site. We also look at the plan to build a 25-bed psychiatric hospital, and add 20 beds between Rutland Regional Medical Center and the Brattleboro Retreat.
