When police officers respond to calls that involve domestic violence, their safety and the victim’s well-being are at high risk. That volatile scenario requires skill to handle, and it’s the reason behind new increased training requirements for Vermont law enforcement officers. We discuss the dynamics of police intervention in domestic disputes, how law enforcement charge perpetrators, and the safety concerns for victims even after charges have been filed.

Our guests include Public Safety Commissioner Tom Tremblay; TJ Anderson, the domestic violence trainer at the State Police Academy; and Karen Tronsgard-Scott of the Vermont Network Against Sexual and Domestic Violence.
