Ethan Allen is a towering figure in early Vermont
history, with stories of revolutionary campaigns and political deals. Now
Allen’s complicated and compelling biography is told in the new book, “Ethan
Allen: His Life and Times” by historian Willard Sterne Randall. We talk with
Randall about what drove Vermont’s
founding father, and how Allen’s life shaped Vermont’s
statehood.
Upcoming book talks:
Tues, Aug 16: 7 p.m., Town Hall Theater, Middlebury
Sun, Aug 21: 4 p.m., Ethan Allen Homestead, Burlington
Also on the program, this year’s wild weather swings, from a soggy spring to a scorched and dry summer have made life difficult for farmers and gardeners. We talk to Secretary of Agriculture, Chuck Ross, about the effect of the weather on crops.
