Vermont’s corrections system consumes an enormous part of the state’s budget – and it’s projected to increase to levels some say can’t be sustained. Two lawmakers who serve on the Corrections Oversight Committee join us on the next Vermont Edition to look at the capacity and budget of our Corrections Department. Sen. John Campbell and Rep. Alice Emmons also tell us what lawmakers have learned about a prison disturbance in Rutland earlier this month.

Also in the program, Vermont is one of only two states that lets prison inmates vote. Historian and former Deputy Secretary of State Paul Gillies explains how that came to be. And we take a Hallowe’en excursion through Burlington to hear the stories of hauntings on the guided tour, "Ghost Walk."
