From Barre’s "Young Firpo" and St. Albans’
Ollie Dunlap to this weekend’s Golden Gloves championships, boxing has had a
long and colorful history in Vermont.  Former boxer Alan Rubel has co-written the
book, Gloves:  The Stories of Vermont‘s Greatest Boxers, Trainers and
Personalities
.  We talk with Rubel
about the people who shaped the sport in Vermont. (Listen)

on a 51 mile power line expansion in Southern Vermont.
But some local legislators want the project postponed. They say the plan is
already outmoded because the technology it’s based on is about to change.  We hear both sides of the issue with
Brattleboro Representative Sarah Edwards and David O’Brien, the head of the
state’s Department of Public Service. (Listen)

And VPR’s Steve Zind continues a series of reports from Iran
