Fat, salt and sugar are leading culprits in America’s weight gain, but nutrition experts say knowing that fact isn’t enough to solve the problem. Former FDA commissioner David Kessler joins us to discuss his book, "The End of Overeating: Taking Control of the Insatiable American Appetite," in which he argues that food manufacturers have "hijacked" American eating habits. We’re also joined by UVM nutrition researcher Jean Harvey-Berino, who says that short of policy changes, individuals need intensive intervention to get control of their weight and eating habits. Also in the program, a proposed partnership between Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health and CMC Healthcare System has been rejected by the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office. The attorney general says CMC is a charitable religious organization and he calls the proposal a merger that violates the state’s laws on charitable trusts.
