The Governor’s Race

There
have been a number of surprises in the race for Governor lately. One major party candidate has decided to run
as an independent, and new issues have emerged to take their place alongside
pocketbook matters as we enter the last three months of the campaign. How will the debate over the regulation of
large composters, and proposals to change Vermont’s sex offender laws affect the race? We’ll look at the campaigns, the candidates
and the issues. Our guests include
reporters Kristin Carlson of WCAX television, and Louis Porter of the Vermont
Press Bureau, along with news analyst Chris Graff. (Listen)

Also, we’ll hear from three members of a group of college students visiting Vermont from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. They’ll talk
about their impressions of Vermont
and America – and the challenges faced by their own countries as
they attempt to modernize. (Listen)

And, we’ll preview the Lake Champlain Dragon Boat
Festival. This weekend the decoratively
adorned boats, each with 20 paddlers, will take part in a competition whose
roots go back 2400 years. (Listen)
