Laconia (New Hampshire) has been awarded a $1.9 million federal grant for improvements to the Laconia Municipal Airport.

The money will allow the city to build an aircraft parking apron and upgrade and replace hazard beacons in eight locations.

New Hampshire Senators Judd Gregg and John Sununu said the airport is an important transportation hub for the Lakes Region and the money will mean better service to the flying public.
