Final orders have come in for 330 Vermont Army National Guard members to be deployed to the Middle East. The members from battalions in St. Albans, Morrisville and Jericho will leave the state January 19.

They will ship to Camp Shelby in Mississippi for several months of training before heading overseas for 18-month missions. The 330 soldiers will join an advance team of 70 Guard members who received their deployment orders last month to leave in early January.

Guard officials expect this to be the final deployment affecting the brigade. By the end of January, 36 percent of the Vermont National Guard will be deployed.
