Acting U.S. Surgeon General visits NH

The country’s acting Surgeon General is honoring a program in Keene, New Hampshire today that focuses on nutrition and gardening for preschool children.

Steven Galson is honoring the Early Sprouts Program with a "Community Champion" award.

The program started at Keene State College’s Child Development Center in 2006. Since then, it was adopted by eight Head Start classrooms in southern New Hampshire.

The program will be honored at Manchester’s Head Start class today.

As part of his Childhood Overweight and Obesity Prevention Initiative, Galson is making visits to highlight communities nationwide, which offer effective prevention programs.
