If the arrival of warm weather quickens our pace a bit, it’s not spring fever. We’re racing inside to get away from the black flies.

The town of Adamant is actually proud of its black flies. There’s a lot of running water there and the insect breeds in running water. So the town has droves of black flies every spring. And for the past five years, in the spirit of if you can’t beat em, join em the community has held a black fly festival.

It’s a chance to turn annoyance with the bug into a little bit of fun and raise some money for the town food co-op.
