Advocates urge extra caution when purchasing toys this year

On this day after Thanksgiving, it’s become increasingly popular for folks to work off the turkey and trimmings by shopping.

At least that’s what retailers are hoping, as the frenzy to buy the latest toy or gadget before Christmas takes full flight starting today.

But take caution when it comes to the toys. The Vermont Public Interest Research Group is out with its annual toy safety report, and despite the high profile stories about dangerous toys on store shelves in recent months, many unsafe toys for young children are still out there.

Charity Carbine is the Environmental Health Advocate for VPIRG, and says parents should shop carefully:
