An agreement has been reached on the redevelopment of a former machine tool plant in Springfield.

The plan calls for marketing 60,000 square feet of the Jones and Lamson plant and redeveloping another 60,000 square feet of the site. About 100,000 square feet would be demolished.

The Springfield Regional Development Corporation bought the plant in 2002 with one million dollars. The money came from the town’s contract to host a state prison.

There are no plans yet for how the building will be used.

Contamination must be cleaned up before the
property can be redeveloped.
