Vermont is set to elect its first female sheriff. Connie Allen, who has been a deputy sheriff for the last decade, is running unopposed in Grand Isle County. Allen says it didn’t occur to her that she would be the first until people started pointing it out to her.

In Windham County, former Brattleboro police Sergeant Sheila Prue is trying to unseat incumbent Sheriff Henry Farnham. In all, there are four contested sheriff’s races in the November election.
