Vermont State Police say they’re continuing to investigate an ambulance accident on Interstate 89 in Colchester that killed an 80-year-old New York woman.

Police say the ambulance carrying 80-year-old Mary Catanzarite of Massena, N.Y., to Fletcher Allen Health Care overturned, just after 3:30 a.m. yesterday.

Catanzarite and emergency medical technician Michael Guthrie were injured.

Catanzarite later died of her injuries. Guthrie was listed in serious condition.

The driver of the ambulance was not hurt.

Police say neither Catanzarite or Guthrie were wearing seatbelts.

Catanzarite’s sister Beatrice Hurley says the ambulance could have waited until when the weather was better.
