An upstate rail passengers’ group say Amtrak’s Adirondack service from Albany to Montreal will receive funding in the new state budget.

The Empire State Passengers Association says the full restoration of operating support will ensure the train runs for another year.

Last week, Vermont also agreed to continue operating support for the Ethan Allen Express, scrapping an earlier plan to bus passengers from Albany to Rutland.

Governor David Paterson originally proposed cutting support for the Adirondack in half, to $2.5 million from $5 million currently.
