Another peanut product added to recall list

Ice cream that’s being sold in New England has been recalled because it could be contaminated with salmonella.

The Hershey Creamery Company says it has recalled its “goo goo peanut butter ice cream.” The flavor was sold in New England, New York and 16 other states across the country. No illness has been reported from the ice cream.

Senator Patrick Leahy has called for a federal investigation into illnesses related to peanuts.

Leahy has invited a South Burlington woman to Washington tomorrow to testify at a hearing on federal food safety oversight.

Gabrielle Meunier’s son fell ill last fall in a case connected to the peanut-salmonella outbreak.
