Officials with the state board that regulates utilities say they’ll lock their office doors from now on after an anti-nuclear protest grew rowdy.
About 15 people on Monday entered the offices of the Public Service Board, which is considering a request by the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant for a 20-year extension on its operating license.
When board officials refused a demand that they sign a certificate of "no good" about Vermont Yankee, protesters dumped bags loaded with foul-smelling packing material around the office.
The commissioner of the Department of Public Service, which represents consumers before the board, calls the incident disappointing. David O’Brien says it’s not what public discourse is supposed to be about.
