The town of Arlington is finishing a deal to buy 12 acres of land along the Batten Kill, a portion of which would be used as a fishing access to the world famous trout stream.
Last year The Vermont Land Trust reached an agreement to buy the land and a historic barn. The Land Trust will help the town with the purchase and hold a conservation easement on the property.
The town received a $150,000 grant from the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board, but needs to raise $15,000 and create a management plan to finalize the deal.
Select Board Chairman Keith Squires says it can be done. He hopes to have everything completed in the next few weeks.
