Attorney General warns of paving scam

Vermont Attorney General William Sorrell is warning Vermonters to be on the alert for a paving scam.

Sorrell say men are driving door-to-door looking for paving work. They falsely claim that they have just finished a road project and have extra asphalt they will sell as a discount.

They then pave a larger section than agreed to or charge a higher price than originally estimated.

Sorrell advices residents never to hire someone who shows up unannounced and not to be afraid to question prices.

Anyone who has heard of this type of scam is asked to call the Attorney General’s Consumer Assistance Program at 1-800-649-2424.
