Police have caught up with a New Hampshire robbery suspect who led officers on a three-hour chase in Vermont and escaped while being treated at a hospital.

Claremont police say 39-year-old William Stone of Lyndon, Vermont, was arrested Wednesday evening in St. Johnsbury on charges connected to the chase last week. New Hampshire also is asking that he be held as a fugitive from justice after a robbery at a Claremont store last month.

Last week’s chase ended when police punctured Stone’s tires with a spike mat and he ran off the road. Police say that while Stone was being treated for two broken legs, he rolled out of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital in a wheelchair and took off.
