The Barre granite industry is reaching out to a Winooski cemetery badly damaged by vandals over the weekend.

More than 100-thousand dollars worth of damage was done to St. Francis Xavier Cemetery on Saturday.

Word of the incident spread to Barre Mayor Thomas Lauzon, who called the executive director of the Barre Granite Association to see if Barre granite makers could help.

The head of the granite association, John Castaldo, says he’s asking his members what they can do to help put things back together at the cemetery, where more than 100 monuments were knocked over and some broken.
