A 15-year-old Barre youth involved in a kidnapping that left a man dead last year has pleaded no contest to a felony charge.

Shawn Fordham’s case was then transferred to juvenile court and he was placed in the custody of the state Department for Children and Families.

He could reappear in criminal court if he violates conditions.

Fordham was charged along with two other youths with luring 33-year-old James Saunders into a vehicle where three older men allegedly began beating him.

Saunders ended up dying, and his body was found four months later in a shallow grave in Vershire.
