About two dozen Bellows Falls Union High School students are facing disciplinary action for walking out of class to protest the war in Iraq.

The students paraded a giant white dove, held protest signs and chanted, "Give Peace a chance.

The protest spawned a counter-demonstration from pro-military students, who heckled the peace demonstrators.

Principal Chris Hodsdon kept the groups separate.

Hodsdon says all students who left class early will face disciplinary action.

The protest was organized by 16-year-old Michael McDougall, a sophomore. He says many students are ignorant about the war in Iraq.

McDougall says the protest raised awareness about the issue.
