A Bennington company is expecting to spend the next seven or eight years producing front fenders for the latest model of the Chevrolet Corvette.

On Tuesday, representatives of General Motors met with officials from Vermont Composites and state officials to announce the deal for 14,000 fenders. Composites General Manager Jim Sharkey says the deal with GM will eventually represent about a quarter of the company’s revenues.

Vermont Composites is the biggest supplier of carbon fiber products in the United States. Its Bennington plant employs about 175 people.
