A 96-acre nature reserve has officially opened in Bennington. The New England Tropical Conservatory is planning an 18,000-square-foot conservatory with greenhouses and viewing areas.
The conservatory used a $100,000 block grant to help buy the land last winter. The nonprofit organization has since cleared a walking path, added information and directional signs and put up a large stone entryway heralding the property.
