Bennington officials hope park expansion brings jobs

Some officials in Bennington County hope an expanded industrial area will attract new businesses and hundreds of jobs to the region.

Peter Odierna of the Bennington County Industrial Corporation says the current inventory of corporate space in the region is drying up.

Odierna says his organization is finalizing a plan to turn about 40 acres of land on Shields Drive into about a dozen separate plots to either sell or lease.

The master plan calls for the construction of between 350,000- and 500,000-square feet of new space in a campus-like setting.

Odierna says the goal is to preserve the setting by recruiting high-end tenants.
