Berlin, NH Battles Bed Bugs

Officials in the New Hampshire city of Berlin are trying to prevent the spread of bed bugs.

Berlin Code Enforcement Officer Joseph Martin says he’s received multiple reports of bed bugs, mostly in multi-family apartment buildings.

He told WMUR-TV that he wants to update an ordinance that would require the landlords to pay an exterminator to get rid of bug or rodent infestations within a certain amount of time.

But some city council members think the language in the proposal is too strict and unfairly places all of the expenses on the landlord.
