Buildings can be built bigger in Manchester.

Residents have narrowly passed two zoning amendments that allow larger buildings in downtown Manchester. They voted 500-424 Tuesday in favor of the amendment for the Depot Street corridor and 480-450 for the Route 7A South corridor amendment.

The changes were recommended by the Planning Commission in the fall. They allow larger buildings if developers reach goals set forth in the town plan.

The maximum allowable building footprint is now 15,000 square feet on Depot Street and 7,000 on Route 7A South.
