Freezing rain and high winds have contributed to a number of road accidents in Vermont.

A drop in temperatures overnight Wednesday turned wet road surfaces into black ice.

Vermont State police responded to a number of motor vehicle crashes and vehicles off the road. Route 9 between Brattleboro and Wilmington was closed for a short time due to the road conditions and traffic crashes.

Meanwhile, temperatures were warming up, expected to reach the 40s and possibly 50. Records could be set for the day.
