New Hampshire authorities have found the body of a Vermont man who disappeared while kayaking earlier this month.

Fifty-eight-year-old Robert Swantak of Bradford, Vt., hadn’t been seen since May 1, when he set out for an afternoon of fiddlehead fern picking along the Waits River, which joins the Connecticut River that separates New Hampshire and Vermont.

His overturned kayak, with a life preserver attached to it, was found that night a few miles down river in Orford.

A New Hampshire Fish and Game patrol boat found Swantak’s body Sunday morning in the Connecticut River in Piermont. Authorities from both New Hampshire and Vermont had been looking for him every day since he disappeared.
