Body of Saint Michael’s College student recovered

The body of a Saint Michael’s College student was recovered in the Winooski River in Duxbury today.

Police say 20-year-old Augustine Carbunari, of Watertown, Massachusetts, was canoeing on the river at about 4:15 yesterday afternoon when the canoe he was in overturned in rough water.

Carbunari, who was not wearing a life jacket, was five days short of graduation.

A companion in the canoe and another kayaking alone managed to get out of the water safely.

Carbunari had been set to graduate from Saint Michael’s on Thursday.
