Frequent travelers between Vermont and Quebec can now apply for a card allowing to use an express lane at the border. Officials say the program called NEXUS will help drivers avoid lines at the Highgate Springs border crossing, which is Vermont’s busiest. Officials expect the express lane to be operational by September.

Drivers must fill out an application, pass background checks and be fingerprinted and photographed. The fee for the card is $50 USD, collected every five years.
