A Border Patrol helicopter with high tech equipment is being credited with finding a missing hunter in a wildlife refuge in the town of Swanton.
The Vermont State Police says that 53-year-old Robert Britch of Highgate was reported missing late Saturday after a resident heard two gunshots indicating someone was in distress as well as shouts from a distance.
Police say conventional searchers were unable to reach Britch because the terrain was too difficult.
A thermal imaging device in the helicopter located Britch within minutes.
State game wardens then brought Britch to safety.
Britch was reported to be cold, but he declined medical treatment.
