In Moretown, the Select Board has accepted a bid by Austin Construction to replace Bridge #41 off of Route 100B, between the Moretown Village and Middlesex, crossing the Mad River. Austin Construction submitted the lowest bid at an amount of $1,138,297.00.

After FEMA classified the replacement of the bridge as an "Improved Project," the town will likely have to again file mitigation measures in order to receive full funding. According to the Select Board, once the State approves the improved project the same letter will be forwarded to FEMA for their approval.

The new bridge will be 130′ long, 22′ longer than the bridge that was destroyed during Irene, and will be placed 25′ upstream to allow the temporary bridge to remain, while the permanent one is being put in.

Moving the new bridge upstream is expected to add $200,000 to the overall costs.
